PDO and COG threads are the latest trend in aesthetic medicine worldwide. They have been used for decades mainly in surgeries while in aesthetic medicine they are used just below the skin, creating a grid or stretching the skin. Collagen and elastin are produced around the threads to create a strong, natural grid, which is maintained even when the threads are absorbed. All threads are made of the same material, polydioxanone.
It is a procedure that lasts about 30 – 60 minutes, for PDO threads anesthetic cream is applied, while for COG threads we do inject anesthesia.
PDO Threads: They are simple threads with different thickness and length, depending on the treated area. Usually many threads are placed together to create a grid, where collagen, elastin & HA grow on it and thus the skin is tighter and hydrated. This results in the reduction of relaxation, dehydration and aging of the skin in general.
COG Threads: These threads have brackets on their surface, which penetrate the tissues and so we can very easily pull the thread, straighten the skin in the direction we want. In this way we achieve immediate skin lifting.
HOW LONG DOES THE RESULTS LAST?
When we install PDO threads, we immediately see 10% -20% of the result, which will be continuously improved for the next 3 months. For COG yarns 70% -80% of the result is immediately visible. The threads, are absorbed after a few months and the results we achieve are due not to the threads, but to the collagen and elastin that has been produced. Thus, the results from PDO threads, last from 8-10 months, while from COGs about 12 months.
